FAQs

When should I RSVP?

Please RSVP by November 30th, 2026. We hope you can join us! If your plans change after submitting your RSVP, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Are children welcome?

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. We hope you’ll be able to join us and enjoy the evening!

What is the dress code?

The dress code for the wedding is kind of formal. Think suits for gentleman and cocktail or long dresses for ladies. Ties are optional. Santo Domingo is warm year-round, even in February so we recommend choosing lightweight breathable fabrics to stay comfortable throughout the day. The dinner for The Night Before will be casual.

Will the wedding be in English or Spanish?

A little bit of both! The ceremony will be primarily in Spanish, with some parts in English. The rest of the celebration will be comfortably bilingual - Just like our families :)

Will transportation be provided? Should I rent a car in Santo Domingo?

Transportation will be provided from Hotel El Embajador to the ceremony and back to the hotel for the reception. It will also be provided for The Night Before dinner. If you are staying elsewhere, you’re welcome to meet us at the hotel and ride with the group.

Renting a car is not necessary. Uber is widely available in Santo Domingo and generally the easiest way to get around, particularly in the Colonial City, where parking can be limited. Unfortunately, Santo Domingo is not a very walkable city, there is a subway, but is very busy.

What places do we recommend while in Santo Domingo?

Colonial City, is the first city of the Americas. If you go during the day you could rent a bike and explore all the historic sites; if you go at night, it’s great for bar hopping and dining.

Beach, Santo Domingo is 2-3 hours away from Punta Cana or La Romana, both popular beach destinations. The good thing is that February is generally not crowded and there is usually no sargassum on the beaches. If you’re interested in Punta Cana, you may want to check out Bávaro, Uvero Alto, Macao or Juanillo; in La Romana, Bayahibe and Casa de Campo. Both areas are touristy but beautiful, and you’ll find everything you need for a more comfortable stay.

Patricia’s favorite place in the island is Samaná (Justin loved it too :), especially Playa Ermitaño and Los Haitises. Whale-watching season runs from January through March at the Samaná bay area. That side of the island is more rural though, so be prepared for a little less comfort.
